Protein packed Edamame Spaghetti
Wow oh wow this stuff is the bomb.com! Whenever I am in the mood to eat plant based or vegetarian for the day, I will whip up some of this edamame spaghetti mixed with zucchini noodles.
This will make a HUGE bowl of pasta. I am all about volume and getting more bang for my buck when it comes to calorie counting. One serving of this is 180 calories with 24grams of protein. That is out of this world! Not only that, but a serving keeps me so full.
Some sauces I like are: basil pesto, a light Alfredo, or spaghetti sauce. I will also sometimes use this for a stir fry noodle dish.
Usually in stores at: Sprouts, Whole Foods, Trader Joes
Moringa for Smoothies
Calories: 20 per 1 tablespoon
Alright I must admit this stuff takes some creativity to taste decent. However, in my opinion, the health benefits a tablespoon of this stuff out weight the taste factor. PLUS: the way I think of it is, “One tablespoon of this equals less veggies I have to eat for the day”.
I will usually put a tablespoon of Moringa in my smoothie and mask the grass like taste with: a cup of soy milk, lemon juice, a frozen banana, Stevia and then probably more Stevia.
Wow I am making this stuff sound so good! (sarcasm). But on a real note… I do not get enough greens and this stuff brings more balance to my diet. If you are looking for a cheaper route to get your greens in, I would suggest buying a bag of spinach or kale to add to your smoothies.
Usually in stores at: Most local health food stores, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Trader Joes
Stevia for everything that needs a little sweetness!
Calories- 0 per serving
I use stevia all the time for so many different things! Some examples are: to sweeten my oatmeal, tea, and coffee. This guy is great to sprinkle on just about anything. It is great as well if you want to sweeten a smoothie up a bit more! Also, this container size lasts for such a long time! A little goes a long way. I found this at publix, but you can order this on amazon. If it is at your grocery store, it will probably be in the baking isle!
Boil in bag quinoa
Calories- 160 per serving/ 320 per individual boil bag
I absolutely love this product for its convenience and pre-portioned servings. You can find boil in bag quinoa in most stores. I believe I picked this up at a Walmart. Whenever I am doing meal prep for the week I will boil two of the individual bags and it will make 4 servings of quinoa. It also only takes about 10 minutes! What can beat that! I buy this brand at Walmart and it is usually in the area where all the rice is found.
Quaker Quick 1-Minute Oats
Calories- 150 per 1/2 cup
Alright this one is more of a no-brainer to me at least. Oat meal is a great option for breakfast. I create a concoction with oats, protein powder, stevia, and craisens. This combination keeps be full for 3 to 4 hours. In fact, this is my go-to if I know I will have a busy day and lunch may be later. If you are going to mix protein in, I suggest adding one that is non flavored. Also it is important you make sure to add more liquid before microwaving. Obviously, this can be found in most grocery stores in the cereal isle.
Nature Valley Granola- Protein
Calories- 210 per 1/2 cup
Protein- 10 grams
I absolutely love this granola! It is a little higher in calories but its delicious and has a good amount of protein! I will usually put this on top of Greek or dairy-free yogurt. I am one of those sweet breakfast people. (I prefer sweet over savory). This is definitely a sweet option if you are a similar creature! This is usually found at most grocery stores in the cereal isle.
Calories- 20 per 1 tablespoon
Cacao powder is great for smoothies! I also use this for making a hot “cacao” drink. It is delicious mixed with hot vanilla soy milk and some stevia. It also gives you a little boast of energy as well. Note that a sweetener will need to be added since cacao is not naturally sweet. Overall I like this product and it was affordable. This bag will last me at least a year. This is another one of those pantry purchases that lasts for a long time. This can be found at Walmart or on amazon.
LivFit Organic Plant Protein- Non-soy
Calories- 1 scoop 4o calories/ 2 scoops 80 calories
2 scoops= 15 grams of protein
Often it can be difficult to find protein that is dairy and soy-free. This protein is both! It is also only 80 calories with 15 grams of protein per serving. I put this in my smoothies and oatmeal usually. Note that this protein does not have any flavor so you will have to get creative. I usually mix this in a smoothie with cashew milk, a frozen banana, some stevia, and pb fit or some peanut butter! I found this at Walmart, but you can also order it on Amazon for the same price.
